Transforming an old bank into a modern dance oasis is no easy ‘feet.’ But, when Aly Velji, of Alykhan Velji Designs, took on the challenge, he immediately saw the Calgary boutique fitness studio Barre Belle’s logo – a stylized cross-hatched ballet slipper tie – as the defining design feature.
Using Metrie trim elements, he sized and angled the mouldings to emulate the studio’s logo. The unique use of interior finishings creates a fresh yet dramatic space.
And, by painting the moulding elements black, Aly was able to create a space that brings to mind a vintage dance studio with an Art Deco flair.
